I am sure that everyone has to know today two things at least: the computer and a foreign language. It’s a well-known fact that knowing of foreign languages opens many doors before you. It can help you to communicate with people of other countries, read some literature or see films in original. We can visit many countries and have no problems there. We are young and it is very important to learn other language for our future studying or profession. If you know some more languages you can have an opportunity to study abroad. Knowledge of foreign languages has always been a sign of high culture and deep erudition. One great man said: “How many languages you know – how many times you are the man”.
At present times English is the most widespread language. It is the world’s universal language nowadays. The great number of English-speaking people speaks it as their mother tongue. But it is very popular among the foreigners too. It is the language of diplomacy, commerce and science. English is the official language of many competitions. It is one of five official languages in the United Nations Organization. More than 80% of the information which is in English contains in the world computers.
There are many programs when students can go to other countries for studying, rest or travelling. If you know English it will be more interesting and useful to you to visit another lands and speak with other people, learn their culture, enjoy interesting places or make friends.
English is a wonderful language. It is the language of great literature and science. It is the language of William Shakespeare and Jonathan Swift, Walter Scott and Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton, John Lennon and James Cook.
That’s why I want to recommend everyone: “Learn English, you would not be sorry for it!”
That’s why my favourite subject at school is English.
