Ukrainians is one of the oldest nations in the world. Our ancestors are East Slavs. The history of Ukrainians begins thousands years ago. Our country was conquered by lots of countries. But we could resist revolt and defend our culture, tradition and language. Now Ukraine is an independent state with its own culture and traditions. The majority of Ukrainians are Orthodox Christians. The life of Ukrainians was linked with religion.

I`m proud of being Ukrainian. We are descendants of Cossacks. They are Ukrainian knights. Cossacks defended Ukraine from attackers. Their enemies respected them and were afraid of them.

We are a glorious nation. Our people invented a lot of interesting and futuristic things. Did you know that the first computer was invented by a Ukrainian scientist? We`ve got a lot of famous people. But the world doesn`t know that they are from Ukraine.

Ukraine has a lot of popular writers and artists. The main Ukrainian writer is Taras Shevchenko. He is one of founders of modern Ukrainian language. Ukrainians are peaceful and hardworking people, because Slavs, our ancestors, were sedentary people.

Ukraine is a pretty good state. I have visited many cities of Ukraine. Of course, I haven`t seen all the cities, but the ones I saw were just wonderful. I and my class often go to various excursions to see the beauty of Ukraine. It is very dull that smart people go to work abroad. Ukraine also needs people with education. Probably our state does not have such capabilities as they are abroad. I would like my state to become better, and I want foreigners to come to us. I really want the whole world to see the beauty of Ukraine. It is very strange to hear that somebody says that Ukraine is a bad country.

Especially it`s strange when it is said by Ukrainians who grew up here. I want all the people to stand up for their state whatever it may be. Every country is not perfect. All countries are wonderful, but Ukraine is my Motherland. I think that this country is the best for every its citizen.

I live in Ukraine, in a country with a very picturesque landscape, in a country that is famous for its powerful and ancient history. I am proud of my country because there are heroes who can sacrifice their lives for the sake of their country. I am proud of my country because of the fact that it was opposed the onslaught of enemies and became an independent state.

I am happy that I was born a Ukrainian because only our country can be famous for such textured and ancient cities. Everyone has some personal history, with beauty and achievements. You can infinitely be proud of such prominent people as Taras Shevchenko, Lesia Ukrainka, Ivan Franko, Andriy Shevchenko, Klitschko's brothers. But there are many other great talents that Ukraine presented to the world. And our language is considered one of the most audacious languages of the world.

Living here is a great honour for me. And, of course, I am proud of the fact that I am Ukrainian. In my opinion, I live in one of the best countries of the world, and not to be proud of my country and nation is very strange

I was born in Ukraine. I love my country very much, because this is my homeland. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. The largest cities are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Lviv, etc.

Ukraine is very beautiful and rich in nature. There are many steppes, forests, parks, valleys, two seas and extraordinary mountains. There is also a very rich history. Many events and historical figures were in Ukraine.

Our country won the Eurovision Song Contests in 2004 and 2016 and there are a lot of medals from the Olympic Games. The Ukrainian language takes the second place as a melodic language. Ukraine is famous for its numerous writers and poets.

Despite some problems, I I’m still proud to be Ukrainian.

Our country is extremely big and strong. We can be proud of its history, culture and other achievements. What a wonderful nature is in our homeland! What are the broad lands, and tall mountains with thick forests! Ukraine is a country with wonderful meadows and fields. Everything in Ukraine pleases the eye.

The history of Ukraine is more magnificent than in many European countries. Our wise princes are known throughout the world by their actions and decisions. Ukraine is also known as a peaceful country that never attacked the first. Our state was and remains the richest on fertile soils of black earth, which during the Second World War the Germans transported by carriages.

We, Ukrainians, should be proud of the fact that we live in such a wonderful country. There is no such a country in the world, we are a special nation. And I am proud of being Ukrainian and live in Ukraine - the nicest and most beautiful country.

I am so proud to be Ukrainian. I think every person should be proud of his country and nationality. Whatever it is for others, but it is your native land, it's a homeland. Maybe I cannot call myself as such a sincere Ukrainian, for example, I do not read Kobzar, and I do not always try to do something that will benefit Ukraine's development, but I loved it.

I love and I will always love my Ukraine, because I understand that it is a part of my heart. It has a native that draws you to yourself from any part of the world. Ukraine, you are my home! How many prominent people from Ukraine are known in the whole world! Singers, writers, boxers, football players and many others who glorify Ukraine. Although our country is not big, but it is invincible! And I am a part of it!

For many years Ukraine was a part of Russia, but it has been independent for several years. For this small country, it has suffered many disasters, people have experienced a lot of troubles, but I believe that our government is doing everything possible to improve people's lives. For a long time the salary of teachers, doctors, pensioners is increasing, the same as the size of scholarships for students.

Now people have the opportunity to watch foreign films, drive imported cars and travel abroad. Our pupils and students take part in international events. They can study English or German from the textbooks that were created in England and Cermany.

How beautiful cities we have! Each differs from the other, especially the eastern city of a western one. We have an amazing capital! Only look at the spring blooming chestnuts on Khreschatyk! How can you not be proud of such a country???!!!

Mishchuk Anastasia, 7 - B

I am a Ukrainian. My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents are also Ukrainians. I speak my native Ukrainian language. First of all, I must act in such a way that my parents, relatives and teachers are not to be ashamed of me. So, Ukrainians are arranged in such a way because their great grandparents have brought up their children: to be kind, respect the elders, fear God.

In order to increase the success of my country, I need to study well to become a good specialist and do everything possible for the development of my homeland.

What does it mean for me to be a Ukrainian? Today, Ukrainians must be able to respect the past. Being a Ukrainian means looking at the world in a certain way. I was born in Ukraine, my parents and friends live here. Here there were all the important events of my life. Everyone loves his land. I am not an exception. That is why I love Ukraine.

Stanishevskyi Mykhailo, 7 - B

Ukraine is a flourishing land, the land of songs and love. I am proud that I am Ukrainian because only in Ukraine there are wonderful and kind people who can sing kolomyikas so well. Ukrainians are amazing people who can talk a lot, without stopping. In Ukraine, everyone is obliged to study the Ukrainian language, because without it, any Ukrainian cannot live. And still a large part of Ukrainians believe in magic, although we are all Christians.

Unfortunately, not all Ukrainians continue to live in this country, as their ancestors did: 79% of people travel abroad. Ukraine has two capitals. The official capital is Kyiv. But a not official one is the city of Lviv with many cultural and artistic masterpieces of different eras, which is wonderful and unique, colourful and rich in the culture of national minorities, with a glorious history.

Personally I live in Ivano-Frankivsk region, named after the great Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko, but founded by the Polish prince Pototsky. Here's a paradox.

Why am I proud to be a Ukrainian?

Our Motherland is located almost in the heart of Europe. We can find that our history has more than a thousand years. In our history there are such glorious names of princes as Oleg, Mstyslav, Volodymyr, Yaroslav, Princess Olga, hetmans Khmelnytsky and Mazepa.

In addition to the glorious past, we have many wonderful traditions. On the night before Christmas young people sang Christmas carols; on Easter our mothers and grandmothers bake delicious bread and sanctify them in the church!

For many years, Ukraine has been a part of Russia, but for fourteen years it is independent. During this time Ukraine has changed a lot.

Every year we prove that Ukraine is rich in talents. The whole world knows our football player Andriy Shevchenko, the boxers Klitschko brothers, our athlete Yana Klochkova who always brings us gold medals in swimming competitions. A list of our talented people is countless.
How not to be proud of such a country?

Khomyn Viktor, 7 - B

Ukraine is a country of nightingale singing, red poppies, fertile black soil, delicious borsch and beautiful girls. Ukraine is known throughout the world for its historical monuments. Ukrainians have their own singing language, great literature, a wide range of folklore and many other pearls. But the main thing is that Ukrainians never give up. Ukrainian traditions will interest you. We meet all guests with bread and salt. Ukrainian dishes are soup and dumplings with sour cream.

Our country is Ukraine, and I am proud of the fact that I am Ukrainian. We have hard working people and talented children. Every person invests a part in labour and enriches our Ukraine. I am glad that I can live and study at school here. We speak Ukrainian with courage. Ukrainian men are courageous, the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine. And how many prominent figures in Ukraine deserve the attention of the whole world. In Ukraine we have our own culture and our attitude towards everything. That is why I am proud of being Ukrainian.

Why am I proud of the fact that I am Ukrainian?

My surname comes from the Cossack family. So, my ancestors have been residents of a beautiful country of Ukraine. I'm happy to live here. We have the best and most fertile land. Also, our Carpathians, you can admire them forever. There are many historical monuments in Ukraine. My country has an economic industry. It is not very difficult to get real cow's milk, sour cream and cheese. In my opinion, in Ukraine there are very friendly people, among whom I have many friends.
And our people are hard-working, so, they are known everywhere. I am very fascinated by the stories about Ukraine in ancient times, when the glorious Cossacks defended it from the fierce. The literary genius Taras Shevchenko was born in Ukraine. His poems inspired me personally: in his poetry he shows how much he loves his country, and the care about it continued to existence. I'm Ukrainian, I love my country and people who live here.

Herasymiuk Bohdana, 9 - B

Living in Ukraine is a great honour. We have a lot to be proud of.

First of all, I am proud that for many years our people have fought for its independence and won. Thanks to this struggle we now live calmly and look at the beauty that is around us.

Secondly, I am proud of the fact that a rebirth of Ukrainian holidays and traditions began in our country because we know: "Without the past there is no future." It is nice to feel that people are restoring their traditions and respect them.

Thirdly, I am proud of the fact that Ukrainians are very talented people. The whole world knows our footballer Andriy Shevchenko, boxers Klitschko, gymnast Lilia Podkopaeva, swimmer Yana Klochkova, athlete Serhiy Bubka, actor of the ballet Vadym Pysariev…

I am proud of the fact that our country has very beautiful cities. Almost every city is distinguished by its beauty, history or achievements. I live in Ivano-Frankivsk region in a beautiful Prycarpathian region in the lovely town of Bohorodchany.

I really love this country and I consider myself to be a good Ukrainian.

Kleban Maksym, 9 - B

I consider myself to be happy because I was born in Ukraine. My native land is famous for its history, national culture, and freedom-loving people with a singing spirit. Our people have a unique and rich reserve of spirituality and generously, filled with cultural and artistic treasures. Today we have many customs, traditions and rituals dating back to ancient times.

And our native language is considered one of the most audacious in the planet. I am proud that even despite constant harassment and oppression, the culture of our nation has evolved. We presented the world with glorious writers and poets, actors and composers, artists and scholars. And the names of M. Zankovetska and I. Izhakevych, A. Solovyanenko and V. Glushkov… are known in the whole world.

Now I can proudly say that I am Ukrainian, and Ukrainian in my native language. I am anxious for all the transformations and important events of my state, although I am not yet a full citizen of Ukraine - I am only 15 years old.

I am proud of being Ukrainian

Ukraine with its friendly people, rich nature, hundreds of unique places and objects of great cultural and scientific importance can definitely be said to be one of the best places to visit in Europe. And I say this not only because I was born here, but also because my country has a really long and interesting history which allowed it to develop eccentric customs and traditions.

Ukraine had a strong influence on other countries of Eastern and Central Europe during the times of Kievan Rus. Cossacks participated in almost all significant European battles. A lot of world famous inventors, scientists, artists, writers and politicians were born in Ukraine. People like Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Puluj, Igor Sikorsky, Kateryna Bilokur have changed the way foreigners think of our country.

Today a great deal of talented youth leaves Ukraine and tries to find a well-paid job abroad. Foreign countries offer them a better opportunity. But I don’t want to leave my motherland behind. I’d like to study in Ukraine and I’d like to help it become a highly developed country. I can say that I’m proud of being Ukrainian without any doubt.

Maksiom Maksym, 9 - A

Ukraine is my motherland and I am proud that I am Ukrainian.

Like other countries Ukraine has its spiritual symbols and they are even more important for me than Ukraine’s beautiful nature and impressive towns. One of them is a willow; it grows on the banks of the rivers. Another symbol is a guelder rose. Even in winter its bushes are decorated with red berries. It is a symbol of love, beauty, and home happiness. The ancient amulets are rushnyky. They accompanied a person from birth to death. Vyshyvanka is a spiritual symbol of the Ukrainians, native land, parental home, and warmth of mother`s hands.

Our Ukrainian language is beautiful and rich, melodic and sincere as the soul of the Ukrainian citizens whatever nationality they are. Our people are diligent, hard-working, friendly, kind, generous, and cheerful. Our song is melodic and charming. It is easier to live with a song, because it can express love and sorrow, joy and sadness, dreams and hopes.

I want to see a prosperous Ukraine, where everyone is happy. I believe that all difficulties will be overcome; Ukraine will be a happy and joyful home for my nation.

Musienko Anna, 9 - A

I am Ukrainian and I am proud of my country. I don’t understand those people who live somewhere abroad and cry about their native land and show their love by wearing embroidered shirts. They always try to combine our “difficult” (as they say) life here and “happy” life there…. They forget that they are Ukrainians as well, not only “Ukrainian diaspora”….

We live in so beautiful “Green Pearl of Ukraine”. Our Carpathian Mountains with their Alpine meadows and woods, tough rivers and mountain lakes, soft climate, curative mineral resources, historical and architectural monuments attract thousands of tourists. Our famous Bukovel is a sign that Ukraine has been recognized as a skiing destination all over the world. Of course, we are proud of that!

I don’t want to hear that it’s very difficult to live in Ukraine, especially for young people. Yes, that’s not easy, but if we work hard, we will change our life. First of all we must be patriots and love our land with all our hearts. We must love our home, family, parents, school, teachers… Only then we will have a peaceful sky above the head!

Ptashnyk Sophia, 9 - A

I live in a small town in the Prycarpathian region which is known for powerful culture and national idea. I advise you to visit the Carpathian Mountains where Lake Synevir is situated because it is a mystical and beautiful view. Mount Hoverla is the next place that catches visitor's eye. It is the highest mountain in Ukraine.

But Ukraine also has architectural monuments, famous people, immutable history and gigantic cities. I have my own associations for many Ukrainian cities. Lviv is associated with low houses, narrow streets, church St. George and tasty chocolate. Kyiv is associated with a crowded transport, thousands people and St. Sophia Cathedral. Odesa is the Black Sea, a fort, hot sun and Derybasivska Street. Some cities attract people because of their historical past. Uzhhorod, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Hotyn are among them.

Many writers and poets were born in Ukraine and my favourites are Lina Kostenko and Myhailo Kotsyubinskiy. It is not a surprise that Ukrainians also have singing talent.

Because of this we have to love Ukraine. So I sincerely like it and I'm proud of being a Ukrainian!

Serediuk Sophia, 9 - B

I am proud that I am Ukrainian because our country is very big and strong. Ukraine is enriched with a diverse culture and history. We can remember our ancestors who defended our country and fought for its independence. Ukraine is a very singing and freedom-loving country which is filled with a treasury of spirituality. In our history there were very famous names that are remembered so far. I am proud of our state which has spawned many talented people. I am a Ukrainian and I always proudly pronounce these words because Ukraine is all my life for me. I was born in Ukraine. This is my Motherland which I love very much, with which my life is closely connected. Also, I am proud of the fact that in our country there are many national customs and traditions, rituals that have existed since ancient times. Our language is melodic, so it is worth listening to Ukrainian songs. I am proud to be born in a wonderful country that has its own history, heroes, famous writers and other talented people.

Boichuk Tetiana, 10 - A

Each of us has a native land where he was born and raised.

In my opinion, everyone must remember their homeland and never forget it. Very often in our life there are situations whereby we can leave our homeland. It may be a bad economic situation in the country as well as poor material wealth.

But if it were hard, try never to go away from your homeland. I am a Ukrainian and I am proud of this. I was born in a Ukrainian land. I speak Ukrainian, sing folk songs.

Here I am surrounded by all my friends and relatives who are always ready to support me. I hope that in the future I will be able to live and work in Ukraine because I like it very much.

Hohol Vitaliy, 10 - A

Every person has his own Motherland. I think all people love it. It is very important because if a person doesn't like his own Motherland, he won't be happy. My Motherland is Ukraine. And I am very lucky that I was born here. Ukraine is a very beautiful and nice country. It has a lot of places where you can relax. The nature is very attractive here. Also people are very kind, friendly and sociable. So, I think you can easily make new Ukrainian friends. Do you know that Ukrainians are very good at singing? We know a lot of songs and have a very cool and harmonious voice. Also we are these people who have a lot of traditions. And we like them!

So, I love my Motherland very much and I am proud that I am Ukrainian.

Dyriv Alina, 10 - A

Every people should be proud of his or her country. Every country has its own culture, customs and traditions. Ukrainian culture is very unique. It includes a large number of songs and poems, tales and proverbs. Ukrainian poets are known all over the world. People may not know Ukraine, but after hearing such names as Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Marco Vovchok and many others, they will immediately recognize them. There is a large number higher of educational establishments in Ukraine. Their number is about 650. Ukrainian cities are very nice and interesting. Lviv, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv - these cities are attracting tourists from all over the world. The Ukrainian Carpathians fascinate us with their bundle. It is worth to say about the climate because here is the most optimal climate; our lands fortunately rarely feel the fury of natural disasters. Ukrainian cuisine is also very diverse. There are almost no people who do not like our dishes. The taste of borshch and dumplings is also well known in the world.

For these and many other things I love Ukraine. And that is why I am proud that I am Ukrainian!

Paslavskyi Vladyslav, 10 - A

If someone asked me why I love Ukraine, I could answer with a huge list of reasons. However, do we actually need the reasons to love our homeland? It is the place, where we made our first steps, where we said our first words. As every child loves his mother, every person has to love his motherland. Ukraine is an amazing place, which can boast of a melodic language, breathtaking places. Moreover, I'm proud of the history of my nation. Reading the Ukrainian literature, you can plunge into the atmosphere of the past. Ukraine is an incredible place to live, but a lot of people leave it with a thought, that the life in other countries is better. However, it's not true. We are the ones who create happy future. Ukraine is a young country and its fate is in our hands. People shouldn't forget that the native land always gives us warmth and love. For me, to be a true citizen of Ukraine means to love my country, work for it, know its history, see and admire its beauty. It is the best country ever.
